I like DET to win at home, let's say 30-20, but this has all the makings of a clown fiesta. RB Taylor Murray and WR Leonardo McCreadie have stepped right into the starting lineup, but the decision making from QB Klingbiel has not been the best. Teams were sorted into two divisions and each team had a 36-man roster with a five-man "taxi" squad.
WR Leighton has taken the most precipitous downturn and if last week's tape is any indication, TE Covington might be the number one option going forward. CFL's alum Don Jonas did not reach the NFL, but instead chose to play in Canada after the 1969 season. Other leans:LAS at ORE (-1)BCI at MIA (-5)DUR at NOS (-4)ELP at SCU (+0)HAR at CLE (-2)ATL at LVS (-4)IWC at STL (-3)DVY (-3) at HONALA at FAR (-2)TUC at SEA (-5)DEN (-1) at TEX.
Logan is notable for being the last professional football player to wear the singular jersey number zero (two others, Ken Burrough and Jim Otto, would wear a double zero, 00, into the 1970s). The only reason anyone would watch this game is to see WR Nikolaus but he's not likely to play due to injury. I don't want to believe, but I might start this week. Chief among their issues is the run blocking from their offensive line-- that is, there wasn't any. These economics contributed to the ultimate demise of the league after the 1969 season.
Whoops! If SHR can come up with takeaways, they have a shot. The league expanded into Texas by absorbing the Texas Football League, which also brought the first and, to date, only team from Mexico to play in a professional American football league, the Mexico Golden Aztecs (whose owner, Red McCombs, would later buy the NFL's Minnesota Vikings). However, it was able to get ABC to broadcast the championship game on the Wide World of Sports; ABC paid the league $500 for the rights to the game.[2]. Shwiner didn't look quite as good as he did in earlier games but I think he's got a bright future. He also paced the Panthers to the 1966 championship game, which they lost to Philadelphia in overtime; and to the CFL semifinal game in 1969. "Bulldogs Brodhead Given MVP Award".
The Alabama Hawks played a pre-season game against the NFL's Atlanta Falcons rookies, losing 55–0. I think BAL somehow pulls it out in the end in a tight game and fails to cover, 24-22.Las Vegas at Denver (-1) - Speaking of surprises, my last pick of the week takes us to Mile High where the defending champs take on a 3-0 Dynomite squad. The official league file will be provided by the Commissioner during the regular season, playoffs and off-season. The two losses we saw this season were some pretty bad beats too...Week 5 brings some interesting matchups-- probably the most interesting is LVS vs FAR but I don't see value in betting that game. Inability to establish working relationships with NFL and AFL teams was a contributing factor. Just about everyone and their mothers is coming in and grabbing the Kodiaks at plus money but it doesn't look like a lock to me.ALA just doesn't have the horses it used to without WR Farley and QB Marischen looking like a shadow of his former self on the field. He's not as talented as any of those guys, but used properly he's putting up some great numbers. Tucson's got the evil mojo man. Durham at Baltimore (-7) - QB Ortiz isn't looking so hot in his second year in the CFL.
Lezlie Tennant.
That'll teach you to believe in Tennessee!!! In any event, small crowds (only 29,500 combined for four games, including 12,000 for an exhibition contest) caused the franchise to become a league-operated "road club" in October; one home game against Hartford was moved to Connecticut, and their final "home" contest was shifted to Memorial Stadium in Mount Vernon, New York.[5]. The rules were primarily those of the NFL except that a "sudden death" overtime period was employed to break ties, which was not part of the NFL during the regular season at that time. WHO THE HECK IS CLAYTON AUYEUNG and WHY ISN'T NICKOLAS DONALDSON PLAYING? They continue making big moves each offseason and the team chemistry appears to suffer for it. It began play in April 2006 as the Great Lakes Indoor Football League (GLIFL).It was formed by Jeff Spitaleri, his brother Eric, and a third member, Cory Trapp, all from the Canton, Ohio, area. It's hard to really say how good this KCY offense is, but it's clear the supporting cast isn't good enough when either Barker or Grueneich are out.The Stingers have had a rough go this season under new GM hbcook. The league engaged in some unsuccessful preseason negotiations with the Empire Sports Network to obtain a television broadcasting agreement. The Michigan Arrows began their season with a soccer-style kicker named Garo Yepremian, who had played the previous season with the Detroit Lions but had found himself out of work because of military service. Actually, I think the Seattle's lead was bigger before Juan got injuried. ACI seems like a fraudulent team and even though they're winning, that has come from the coaching staff mismatch against BOS and TEX. I really don't know what to think about the Bombers.
The run game looks fantastic and Mueller, when healthy, continues to be one of the very best in the league. The short line for LAS is attractive, but I always hesitate in these West vs East road trips. They aren't doing much offensively, but QB Hughes has a couple good throws in him each game and they don't need too many points to win.The Talons have a good thing going, but just like I picked NOS to win when LAS traveled cross country, this road trip is going to be tough. If DEN doesn't get up for this game, I could see TUC covering this spread but I'll take the Dynomite in a blowout 35-7.
The Beavers feature a perennially stacked roster but it hasn't shown up on the field through two weeks. I always wonder about these 1 point spreads-- why not just make it a pickem? The league was primarily formed by minor-league teams that had played in the United Football League and Atlantic Coast Football League.[1].
